The Colorist: Chromatique Salon, Bellevue, WA

I left a bit of a cliff hanger at the end of my first 2017 post to everyone. Thought I would follow through with the final result. Here's my before and after photo from January into February. I'm starting this new year/month with a lot of changes and am 100% putting myself out there.

This decision didn't take nearly as long as I thought. I went back and forth numerous times back in December but while I was visiting my Grandmother, she mentioned how she loved my hair lighter and I thought it'd be a nice change since I haven't dyed my hair in over 5 years.

I went through a crazy beach babe phase back in 2008. I was living in Florida, out in the sun every single second of the day and NOT taking care of my locks. I figured I'd go lighter but would go for a soft balayage instead of a full head of highlights. I honestly didn't decide to go drastic until I was sitting in my colorist's chair and she was looking at my pinterest board saying "You're kind of all over the place. These are subtle and drastic...you sound like you want a drastic. If you want a real change and a 'wow', leave it to me". So I did. I couldn't be happier with the end results!

She did an amazing job. I'm in love with the shade and how it blends so perfectly through out. What I love the most is that I know it's going to grow out nicely and I won't need to go back to her until September when I've had enough and want to go back to being a dark brunette again. I'm also obsessed how it looks when it's in a bun. My hair used to look so boring up and now I don't feel totally silly when it's in a messy bun, at work.

It's been a long year and a lot of obstacles for me but after making this little change to my everyday life, I feel hopeful. Strange, right? It's a change I can control right now and make on my own without anyone else opinions because no one else mattered. It's a good feeling to know your consistent in your personal style.

The best challenge has been to mix my hair with my wardrobe. My eyes are 6 times brighter and wearing greys wash me out, for once. It's wonder to be attracted to warm gold shades and know I can pull it off with ease. I had no idea my wardrobe was so blue and yellow based until my hair change. Now I get to find what matches and get rid of what needs to go.

It's wonder how the littlest changes can make someone so happy.

If you're in the Seattle or Bellevue area, I highly suggest my colorist out on the east side. She's on instagram and works at Chromatique Salon at both locations. Check her out, her name is Ashlei Peyton! She's not only worth the trip, professionally, but she's an absolute delight and knows her numbers!
