All Black & Oxblood

For the dark and stormy grey days in the middle of summer. It's just not fair but we can't let bad weather get in the way of making an all back statement. Mixed with a deep red, of course. This lipstick has become an obsession of mine.

Then again, who doesn't love a pop of color with an all black ensemble. Any color will do! Bright, light, deep, sass. It's the best.

This lip is from MAC. It's my first ever MAC purchase. Believe it, friends. This gal isn't making it up. My old co-workers would rave about specific lipstick colors and products. Majority of my makeup comes from Sephora. We all know MAC isn't one of their clients. My normal go to lipsticks are Nars and Rimmel. High end and low end, can't beat it.

This summer, it's a goal of mine to try out different lipsticks and move away from liquid lips. Though, they're my favorite. This is a statement for the books! Liquid matte lips are everything!

However, this lipstick is a total game changer. This lip stayed on through tea and lunch. I did reapply at after lunch though due to a lack of lip liner.

The lip is called Viva Glam. It brings me life.

On to gold accessories. You all know about my watch from past posts. My newest accessories are the little gold knuckle rings from a boutique in Kirkland. Serendipity Consignment was right across the street from Hector's, our brunch spot. Adding that it was on a hot beautiful summer day... this little spot has tons of great gently used clothing, shoes and accessories. It also sells new items too, like these rings.

Top: Marshall's (similar) // Pants: Express // Booties: The Office // Watch:
Marc by Marc Jacobs // Earrings: JewelMint (old, similar) // Lipstick: MAC, Viva Glam

Earrings are very old. Bought from JewelMint when they first came out. It's far from gone but there were some great pieces from that company once.

My last ring, the one in the photo below, is a family antique that my grandmother gave to me years ago. It's something that keeps my close to her and goes nicely with my new rings. Old and new!

What little boutique do you love?

Meeting Vibes

Nothing better than a Saturday morning meeting with a non-profit. The whole morning was spent cleaning and organizing before my leadership retreat. This year my goal was to put myself to the test and go to a different part of the non-profit org.

My position is in connecting members and building lasting friendship for the league's year and, hopefully, life. It's already been an amazing start because it connects me with senior leaders who have had amazing careers throughout their membership.

The attire was business casual. Since the morning was spent cleaning my kitchen, vacuuming my living room and organizing my Disney collection for my friend's weekend visit, my outfit was a bit more casual than normal.

This outfit is head-to-toe SALE. They were all purchases on a discount site or in store. Including my necklace. My watch was a gift so that that the ultimate freebie.

The easy, relaxed fitted tank is from Fred Meyer. If you can believe that. It was on the sale rack and something that was picked up while on my trip to the Oregon Coast last month. So, not only was it on sale, but there wasn't sales tax. The 10% adds up!

My flats are Tahari. A favorite because of the "T" initial on the toes. All of my favorite brands are T's: Tahari, Tory Burch, Trouvé, Treasure & Bond, Tom Ford. The list goes on and on.

That Little Pink Romper

Shortly after my birthday is one of my best friend's birthdays. Recently my social life has revolved around birthdays and, personally, my wardrobe and self couldn't be happier about it. The people that are important to me are somehow almost all Cancers. Maybe that is Gemini tendencies. We get along well with Aries, Aquarius and Cancers. My childhood friend is a cancer and she's coming up for her birthday weekend to celebrate toward the end of the month.

For this party, we went out to Bastille. It's a charming bar/restaurant with patio in Ballard. It's finally summer in Seattle so, naturally, the rompers came out. Though rompers are frustrating to get undo, for ex. to use the restroom (you thought something else, didn't you?). They can take awhile to adapt to.

This romper is a favorite. Primarily because of the length. To be honest, personally, short is the way too go. This one challenges that standard for me. Normally this would be too modest. Which is why it works well for my wardrobe. There isn't anything else like it in the closet.

This night was fortunate. My hair was curled, my make up was from my new palette (which will be shared in a future post) and my shoes are a favorite. PLUS, bonus round: The romper comes with pockets. Game changer!! Love the ruffles, the color and the price.

Target, friends. Can you believe that? Target. This was purchased a few months ago when the weather wasn't cooperating. This was a purchase for the books!

Romper - Target (similar, similar, similar) // Gold Bangles - Gift from India (from my grandmother) // Sandals - Seychelles, Garden Leather Sandals (similar) // Make up below

Sandals were purchased from Gilt.com a last year. A great life decision. They're constantly worn now because they easily transition from work to a night out. They keep my legs in shape and they aren't uncomfortable at all. They're my favorite heeled sandal and they're frequently worn to work. They've even been walked home in!

Black and White 4th of July

A little late on posting but this is the outfit of the day for the 4th of July. This was taken right before brunch at Glo's. If you're from Seattle, you know Glo's. If you're new to the neighbor or visiting, it's a very small spot up on Capitol Hill.

It's got great dishes and there's always a line outside. The secret: It's worth the wait.

After meeting and catching up with my friend, Ishea, there was a lot of chores to do. If you couldn't tell. The piles of blankets and nicknacks on my table and counters were driving me nuts. Almost everything has a spot now.

Romper: The Loft (old, similar and similar) // Sandals: Target //
Watch: Marc by Marc Jacobs

My outfit is from The Loft. Unfortunately, it was purchased a few years ago but it's still a go-to in my closet for an easy outfit. Rompers are my jam. It's an outfit, all in one.

Paired with new sandal from Target and my favorite Marc Jacobs gold watch. Easy breezy!

Jean Jacket & A Belated Birthday Outfit

This month whipped on by, along with my birthday. It was at the very beginning of the month and between the new job, the move, the social dates and my trip to the beach; it got washed over.

My support team in the city couldn't be stronger. Though it's been through a lot of trial, especially in the past 6 month to a year, my true friends are real. They can be honest, they know and love love and we bring a mutual quality to one another's lives. We don't take each other for granted or walk over one another or compete, which is a beautiful kind of love. Isn't it?

To adorn your friends with so much respect, you know when to step down or step up? Which is why I called up one of my best friends, K, the Saturday before my birthday. You see, nothing was planned. The very last thing my mind could think about was organizing my own birthday. The fact of the matter was, one should not be alone on ones birthday. No matter what. With this in mind, my request was simple: nothing flashy, crazy or insane. Perhaps burgers or tacos. When your in your early thirties and it's your birthday, one must also 'Treat Yo Self'.

This is the outfit for work. There was a wardrobe change later in the evening for my Friend-Date night. This outfit was all comfort. It could have been trendy and tight and wildly UNcomfortable but at the last minute, my mind chose happiness.

This terrifically easy to throw on razor-back dress is from Marshall's. It cost less than twenty bucks and it fits like a glove. It has a slight high-low for us petite ladies. My 5'3 booty decided to go with gladiator flat sandals which are embarrassingly old, worn and perfect. However, should be replaced. The denim jacket is from Old Navy, via Thrift Store. One of my favorite purchases.

This post makes me want to wear this outfit all over again!

Boyfriend Jeans and Comfort

Hello Non-Judgemental Friends!

As you can see - still fixing up the place and it's now in the final stages. Almost everything has a place and 2/5 of my crafts have been completed. My apartment officially has a lovely functional kitchen, a semi-decorate bathroom and all of my necklaces has been organized. It's been wonderfully relaxing and de-stressing coming home and having if feel like an actual home.

The plants are bright and green in the window sills and my table. My art has been places where it will eventually get hung. Jackets and work bags on the sofa til the hall closet has enough hangers and organization, bills on the table. It's been such a comfort pulling my life together, seeing it all in one place and making it 100% my own. In all honesty, this is the happiest my life has been in 2 full long years. More of that later. That'll be a whole other post. Promise.

Boyfriend Jeans - Caslon (similar) // Black Top - via Marshall's (similar) // Black Pumps -
Nine West // Eyeshadow - Tarte Matte Palette // Matte Liquid Lip - Anastasia Beverly Hills, Crush

To no one surprise here, I'm wearing my favorite black pumps again. Every time my OOTD posts have these pumps, all my mind goes to is that article of the press harassing Chelsea Clinton of her well worn comfortable pumps. This is my case as well. To add to that, they go with everything. Everything.

Now, what should come as a surprise are the boyfriend jeans. Never in my life would've imagined myself in a pair of boyfriend jeans. There were a lot of reservations: they'll make me look chubby, they won't be flattering, woman like Katie Holmes and Rachel Bilson can pull those off - not you. Well, all things considered, my thoughts were falsified the moment they jeans slipped on.

Let's start with the number one selling point - comfort. Holy guac and chips! These jeans are my dream pants. These jeans sell themselves. Not only are they easy to throw on, easy to walk in, talk in, my stylish in and feel fantastic but they were also on sale. Of course, these Caslon's are sold out now but the brand is my personal recommendation for boyfriend jeans.

They also carry plus size, which make it even easier to support them.

My top is from Marshall's! Black tops forever, my lovelies. Honestly, black tops can go with anything. My closet has 8 of them and it still doesn't seem like enough.

Magenta Topsey Turvey Life

Looking at these pictures is almost cringe worthy. To you, you probably see my outfit and are trying to scope out my old shared apartment. To me, all I see is how tired I look from staying up too late and packing. This is very similar to my last WIW post with my day 4 twisty hair. Though, I'm on day 2 hair here. It's amazing to see how quickly I have changed from just dealing with the day to day to loving every second or every minute of everyday. Even the times of frustration - I'm happy.

Shall we talk clothes? My new favorite tank is from Target! Love me some Target, y'all. My blazer is thrifted from a Value Village. An amazing find since it's an Anthro/Urban brand. My black pants are so slimming. Bless you, slimming pants, bless. Those are my Calvin Klein's again. I regret not picking up another pair of those. No joke - Costco buy. Lastly, you know, my all time favorite suede booties from London. I have so many WIWs with these boots. If you want to check them out, here are a few:

Top: Target (similar) // Blazer: via Value Village, Silence & Noise (similar) // Black Pants: Calvin Klein Skinnys (similar) // Necklace: Nordstrom Rack (similar) // Booties: via London, The Office

It's a guarantee that I'll be wearing these booties again come fall. In the meantime, I took them to the cobbler yesterday to get new bottoms put on them. They were kind enough to weather proof them as well. Now is the perfect time to visit the cobbler for all of your winter wear. This way you're prepared when the rainy season comes right back around!

This summer is already packed with fun activities. It's going to be a great ride.

Have an amazing day, friends!

First Outfit, New Apartment!

First “Outfit of the Day” in my new apartment! It’s been a busy-busy time getting my place set up and prepared. My first weekend with all of my stuff moved in, I went to the beach. I don’t know how I wasn’t more stressed out. The mess and clutter was driving me insane. I watched ‘Minimalism’, a documentary on Netflix, and two shows on hoarding.

After throwing away more of my life, life I didn’t want and wanted to move passed, I was seeing the light in this moment. I decided to refigure all of my ikea furniture. I will have a few posts on this because I haven’t started two of them. One is fully complete! Slowly but surely, this turtle will finish the race.

The clutter could drive anyone mad, while moving. After work, everyday, there was some project that needed to be worked on. Moving some pieces into storage for my sister, painting, salvation army runs, trips to the hardware store or Lowe's. Endless.

My outfit was pretty simple. It was the first nice day in Seattle where the weather wasn’t working against us. Everyone was in spring/summer wear. My skirt is an easy throw on. It goes well wth black, white, the basic colors. Strangely enough, it also pairs well with other patterns. I’ll make a point to get an OOTD to show that. Though the skirt is old, it never fails to get compliments. It stands the test of time for fashion. Plus, the best part - comfort. I can eat anything I want in this skirt. Who can complain about that?

Top: Target - Black v-neck //Skirt: The Loft (old) // Flats: Tahari //
Necklace: Gorjana // Lipstick: Anastasia Beverly Hills - Kathryn

Shoes are my all time favorite flats. I wish I had bought another pair of them but, alas, didn’t know it would be love. I’m currently on the hunt for a few new pairs for this summer. If anyone has recommendations, please reach out!

Lipstick (promised I would let you know!) is, yet again, Anastasia Beverly Hills in Katheryn. Majority of my outfits are complimented by my everyday perfume: Florence, by Tocca.

Truly can’t believe it’s been a whole month in my place already! It’s really coming along. It’ll be fun to show you before and afters!

Red Lips and Gold Snakes

One of my favorite outfits is being brought to you by a trip to Nordstrom and the thrift store. This top is my go-to whenever I feel bloated or uncomfortable. It hides everything and is insanely roomy and makes me happy. That's it. End of post.

Seriously though, it's the greatest and almost the same colors as my eyes. It's paired with my go to Banana jeans, a Kut from the Kloth faux leather blazer (that I got at the thrift store. Score!), my fave nude pumps and child-approved gold snake necklace. It's not child safe but one of my friend's kids is obsessed with it and called me "cool" because he liked the ruby eyes.

As for make-up, which I am going to try and talk more about, I am wearing eyeshadows from my Tarte palette. I'm also wearing Anastasia Beverly Hills Liquid Matte lip in Kathryn. I darker shade for Spring but I think it balanced the look because of my light shoes.

Blazer: Kut from the Kloth (thrift find, almost identical, similar, cheaper) // Top: Pleione (old, similar) // Jeans: Banana Republic // Pumps: Nine West (in blue!) // Necklace: Forever21 (old, similar) // Lip: Anastasia Beverly Hills, Kathryn // Eyeshadow: Tarte Palette, Matte Palette

It's no surprise that these pump are going to be the next topic for this post. They've been posted many times before. My closet houses two pairs and I'm on the verge of buying a third because they give me height and make me stand up straight. They are by Nine West and are surprisingly pleasant for pumps. My testing has ranged from an 8 hour day to walking a quarter mile. They do the job and have held up nicely. There has yet to be an affordable pump that has topped these suckers.

Im in search for another pair of pumps. Let me know if you have suggestions!

WIW: Old Style, New Gig, Hair Twist

It's a great day when you can go back through your photos and relive the first few days of your new job. You know how you felt: excited, a little nervous, on day 4 hair.

After a quarter bottle of a dry shampoo and some hair magic, I felt human again. I had been moving boxes every night into my new place, at this point. Packing in the mornings and toting my life in the evenings. A great work out but exhausting. I was too excited to even care.

For my outfit I wore my favorite slouchy cardigan that I bought from Nordstrom Rack. I'm surprised I don't have more WIWs with it. My last post wearing it is here. I honestly throw it on all the time! Over anything and everything.

My favorite white top from anthropologie, black pants from Calvin Klein, booties from The Office (which I picked up on my last trip to London) and my gold beaded bracelet (which was a gift from one of my best friends, A, when we were in Cancun).

I love looking through these old pics on my phone. I should catch up quickly. Gosh, I love that green cardi!

Nordstrom Mascara Madness May 2017

3 Clinique Mascaras with Free Cosmetic Gift Bag Behind it

If you haven't heard, last Saturday was Nordstrom's Mascara Madness event. It's a sale specifically for mascara. It's a BOGO of buy 2, get 1 free.

Why is this such a big deal? Glad you asked! The sale is on any mascara in Nordstrom stores and you can mix & match. Which means, luxe designer mascaras are for grabs. Yves Saint Laurent, anyone?

For my three, I decided to stretch my dollar and go for what I know I'm not allergic to: Clinique. Long story, short - I have sensitive eyes to mascara. Most mascara causes my eyes to burn and water, which ends up with streaks down my face. So I went safe but mixed it up a bit!

The universe has blessed me with long thick lashes, that I love. However, with mascara they pop! Mascara is my go-to before my door closes. It completes any look.

3 Clinique Mascaras with Open Boxes

Here's what I went with:

Clinique High Impact Mascara - My go-to mascara. I've used this countless times and love it. Oil free and allergy-tested (like all Clinique's mascara products).
Clinique Chubby Lash Mascara - Key is in the brush. It's super volumizing and plumps lashes to make them "bodacious and bold".
Clinique Lash Power Mascara -  Tried this one out this morning. Description says it will last for 24 hours. I went 15 hours and I didn't have any residue under my eyes. Its a thin coat but it's definitely lengthening and it helped my eyes pop!

3 Clinique mascaras with free cosmetic bag and Nordstrom bag

For the record, I don't shop at the Clinique counter a lot. I'm a sephora gal through and through. It's my preference but mascara has been tricky lately. However, my experience was amazing.

First off, there was hardly any advertising for this promotion. Which is slightly disappointing. I found out through a sales associate because I happened to be looking at shoes when I over heard her telling another customer. I went back later after finding out from a co-worker that you can have Nordstrom hold your choices and they will ring your card up on the day of the event.

Naturally I went back to the counter, picked my choices, gave the woman my card and was informed that I could pick them up on Saturday or anytime after. Which worked out great because I was at the Oregon Coast this weekend.

What I wasn't expecting was the extra cosmetics bag filled with goodies! Here's the stitch, if you spend $28 at the Clinique counter, you get $70 valued bag!

Like - YASSS, please!

The Free Clinique Bag is filled with the following:
• Rinse-Off Eye Makeup Solvent (2 oz.)
• Rinse-Off Foaming Cleanser (1 oz.)
• Sculptwear Lift and Contour Serum for Face and Neck (0.27 oz.)
• Long Last Lipstick in Bamboo Pink (0.12 oz.)
• Quickliner for Eyes Intense in Intense Ebony (0.01 oz.)
• Chubby Lash Fattening Mascara in Jumbo Jet (0.28 oz.)
• Cosmetics Bag

Next time I find out they will be having this sale, I will scream it from the sky for you. It should be happening in November, I believe. TBD for more information!

Travel: 15 Tips for a One Day Travel to Disneyland

Many of you have read my post about my One Day Trip to Disneyland last week. I had a ton of fun getting to see the park again. I hadn't been back since high school which is a lot longer than I'd like to admit to. I didn't remember it as much as I had thought and that's primarily because I'm used to the Magic Kingdom at Disney World.

As mentioned in my previous post, I was in the park for approximately 11 hours straight and learned a lot about the ins and outs of the park. These are my biggest recommendations for you, your travel partner, or your family.

WIW: First Day at Nordstrom!

Mirror picture of the outfit I wore on my first day of work at Nordstrom
Coral Sweater - The Loft, via Value Village (simiar) // Black Tee - TJ Maxx // Wide Leg Pants - Anthropologie (similar) // Floral Scarf - JCrew (similar) // Brown Booties - Value Village

I moved to Seattle about 6 years ago. I never intended to stay, never intended to grow my career and never expected my dream to work at a fashion house would come true.

Last week I started my new job in old clothes. I didn't know what to expect, so I stuck with my basics and went for booties, wide leg pants and a button down. So profesh, right?

I soon realized there were many different types of styles at my new company. Those who really cared, those who are naturally trendy and set trends, those who really don't care and those who get by and follow the trends but keep their own style.

I'd like to think I'm the last group but it didn't take me long to start purchasing from the store once I was approved through HR. I've already purchased 3 tops and a pair of work out pants (review coming soon!).

Side mirror picture of my outfit, coral cardigan, wide leg pants and floral scarf

I wore these wide leg pants strictly for comfort. It's so interesting how our tastes change as we mature. I used to hate slacks and now I can't get enough of them. They're comfortable and I can get them hemmed because #adulting. Not something I thought was important growing up. It changes everything with the right length or even a heel height.

I bought these pant about 7 years ago. That's the truth! I bought them when I worked at Anthropologie in Florida when I was living paycheck to paycheck. They have been one of the best purchases of my life and have comes with me to 4 different states now.

My black tank top is nothing special. Bought at TJ Maxx a few years ago. My cardi is from The Loft and I got it at Value Village. I'm obsessed with the spring color but I will say I didn't feel like the sweater tied the outfit together without the scarf. Which, by the way, is from JCrew (bought last year).

I will probably never pair this cardi with my fave wide leg pants again. The color seems off but this is a blog for everyday women. I'm being honest and I think that's what this blog is all about.

I've got a few more outfits from this week I'll get up soon.

Till then, mon amies!

Travel: Disneyland in One Day

Pointing at Sleeping Beauty's castle wearing Mickey Mouse Ears with the name Allison on the back

Yesterday, my friend (H) and I went to Disneyland for 11 hours. Let's break down the agenda for you so I can remind myself of this in the future.

Night before: Full Dinner and bed by 8pm. Took a melatonin because I don't play games.
3:30am: Wake up call. Got dressed, did make up and hair, grabbed my mouse ears and my small Stella McCartney Adidas hiking bag.
4:15am: Leave apartment for the airport.
4:45am: Park at airport and head to security.
5:15am: Get past security and get coffee and fill up hydro flask.
6am: Flight out of Seatac and to LAX.
8:35am: Land at LAX, get off plane, bathroom break and change into shorts.
8:55am: Go to arrivals.
9am: Hail an uber.
9:45am: Arrive at Disneyland!
10am: Get through security and the gate.
10:01am: Come up with a plan and and get a locker.
10:10am: PLAY for 10 hours.
8:10pm: Go to Main Street for end of the night shopping.
9pm: Head out while the Electrical Parade begins.
9:10pm: Walk outside of park, hail an Uber.
9:45pm: Arrive at LAX & get through security.
10pm: Change back into pants and get snacks.
11:15pm - 11:55pm: Board plane, wait for passengers from another delayed flight.
Midnight: Take off.
3am: Land and go to car.
3:30am: Get home and sleep for 9 hours straight.

I'm going to go back to 10am, arriving at the gates of Disneyland, because this is where it gets a lot of fun. It's early and H and I had been awake for 6 hours already. We were dying for a snack but decided the first thing to do was take photos at the front of the park and then to calculate our hours and get our first fastpass of the day.
